I cut their hair!

I decided Marymae and Benjamin needed haircuts and that I didn't want to mess with taking them to a salon to get it done, so I just did it myself. They both turned out pretty cute and I saved about $20.00 bucks. Hmmm. I think I'm gonna keep doing it and see how long I can maintain the shapes. I am a little afraid that I'm going to get it all cattywompus. We'll see.

No no no no--see that finger....

Benjamin knows when we say "no-no" what we mean, but he just can't bring himself to obey. He sticks his little finger up and says, "no-no" when we do. Oh! It is so cute. The only trouble is--he says "no-no" but he keeps on doing what he was going to do. Stinker.

Jerry married his sister....

Jerry married his sister....

Jerry married his sister. Hee Hee. I love to say that. He didn't marry his sister, he performed the ceremony, but it sounds really funny the other way. Last night, Jerry's little sister married Bryan in Jerry's brother's backyard. Jerry's brother, Larry, gave her away and Jerry married them. Now, if you were wondering how Jerry got ordained to marry someone, well, in Texas, almost anyone can marry anyone. You don't have to have a whole lot of special ministry degrees or anything.

It was a nice little wedding. Leslie's girls all wore lilac Strasburg dresses that were beautiful! Leslie had one attendant and Bryan had one. The flowers were simple. Honestly, the simplicity of it all made it one of the prettiest weddings I've ever been to. Please keep them in prayer as they start their lives together. Pray that God is at the center of their home.

Expressions

I love getting the kids to make funny faces and silly expressions. Here's Hogan making a silly face.

Lolly pretends to be tired.
Henley makes a mad face.
Lolly shows us how surprised she is!
Henley gives us "you're kidding me!" look.
While we were at Concan swimming, I had the kids pose for me. I took a dozen pictures of them showing emotion with their faces. They are such hams! Jerry and I got in on the act, too, but those pictures are only good for throwing darts....

More Concan NOT Cancun

As promised, here's more Concan. I have sooooo many pictures. I'll be doing more Concan tomorrow too, I'm sure. Benjamin loves these glasses. They're hand me downs from Lolly for Marymae, but Benjamin thinks they're just for him.
Lolly squeezes a mask on her head and makes a funny face for me.
Gates takes a turn at the mask. I think it's funny that all you can see is my hand's reflection in the mask.
Lolly and Mimi and good river buddies. They're growing up too fast.
Benjamin poses on the dance floor before dinner. He loved being able to get down and crawl around on that nasty ground. He got filthy at Concan.

Concan NOT Cancun!

We been to the river! Woohoo. We went to the Frio last week and spent Wednesday through Sunday in the hill country at Neal's Lodges. My children and I love Concan. The water is crystal clear, the river has a rock bottom, there are springs that feed the river that are nice and cold, the kids jump off huge rocks into deep river water, etc. It is a family tradition that we have done since I was a little girl. One of my most favorite things is to sit in the river in a river chair and just watch my kids play in the water. God's creation is everywhere from the tall trees to the sweet smelling water. It's a little big of heaven.

Jerry and Benjamin taking it all in.
Allen and Henley swim together at the big rock.
Marymae is a water girl. She can swim like a fish, too, but the life jacket gives me reassurance that she won't get into trouble in the deep areas of the river.
This is the big group that goes to Concan. I am related to all of these people. It is my mom's side of the family.
Marymae got worn out real quick by the fourth day. I have many more Concan pictures I'll post later. Look how clear the water is. You can see the rocks in the bottom of the river. Cool, huh? It's so beautiful compared to Corpus Christi's mud lake.

Too many kids in the tub!

There are too many kids in the tub. I just washed a behind and it wasn't mine, there are too many kids in the tub! That's poem by Shel Silverstein. I love it. That's what I thought of the other night when Benjamin, London, and Marymae took a bath together. I washed 30 fingers, 30 toes, 3 hineys, 6 arms, 6 legs, you get the picture. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Benjamin is learning fast--some good things and some "not so good" things.

Oh Benjamin! That's what I find myself saying these days. He's learnin' fast and learning things I'm not wanting him to learn. Since he has an older brother and sister, they teach him things I'd prefer they didn't. Benjamin is "street smart" more so than any of my other kids were. The following pictures are examples of his many grown up talents.

Peek a boo! I'm in the trash can cabinet. I love to open cabinets, empty them and get inside. Sometimes, I even shut the doors and hide. It's fun! (Benjamin especially likes the pots and pans and banging them with spoons his sister gets him from the drawer he can't reach).
Here, Benjamin is standing on top of his stepstool my grandfather made for him and looking into the living room. The black chair is there on its' side to try to keep Benjamin out of there. He was figuring out a way to get past that chair and get where he wanted to go. Marymae helped him out with the stool. (In case you're wondering, we were staining the steps Jerry built to match the new floor and we couldn't walk on them for 12 hours)
Standing up in the tub. His favorite thing. And, when he sits down, he plops so hard water splashes out of the tub and sometimes his hiney slides and he goes under. He loves it. It scares me to death.
Throwing rocks. Woohoo! He's got a good arm, too. He throws with his left hand like his daddy. Allen taught him how to throw. He throws food, balls, cups, pacifiers, toys, rocks, anything he can get his hands on and then doesn't want anymore. I should probably spank him for some of this stuff, but it sure is funny right now.
