Sweet little candy corn.

My sweet little candy corn wants to get that thing OFF!

My candy corn and my sweet pumpkin....

We went to my mom's church's fall festival Monday and they had PONY RIDES! This was Benjamin's first ride on a pony. He loved it. In fact, he loved just talking to and touching the ponies. The ride was the highlight. Marymae is an animal lover by nature also. (I think we all are.) She has a heart as big as Texas for all things furry, creppy, slobbery, etc. I think she would love to have her very own pony. Maybe we'll ask Paw-Paw about that.

Lakehouse weekend

We went to the lakehouse again this past weekend. We went to do a little clean up job. The home owners association up there rents an industrial size dumpster the last Saturday in October every year and since we had some stuff to get rid of, we took advantage of the dumpster! Wow. We had a lot of crap to haul off, let me tell ya! We played too. The above picture is Marymae doing her best to build something with the massive amounts of moss she found up there. She ended up making a "nest" on the ground for some kind of critter.

Allen hauled Jammin around in a wheelbarrow. They both had a great time. And, Allen got out of a little work because he was "keeping" the baby for us. Hmmm. Speaking of a little work, Jerry put Allen (isn't he still a baby) on the roof of the cabin with a chainsaw and had him trim some branches off the roof. Yikes. Men.
Marymae is mother henning Benjamin. She sat on the porch with him and fed the deer every time he wanted to. Even when there were no deer to be seen, she would sit with him and throw bread out just because he wanted to. Sweet girl. (I know Benjamin doesn't have clothes on in the last two pictures, but he barfed on one outfit, so I put another on him, then he got hot, so I stripped him. He likes to be naked anyway.)

My Nanny and I took the kids to the park while we were there. Allen snapped our picture. My Nanny is my dad's mom. She and my grandad are the ones who gave us the lake cabin. She will be 83 in December. My grandad will be 87 in April. They are busy as bees and my grandad worked right along side us while we trimmed trees and hauled off crap. My nanny kept up with the kids while we worked. Impressive.

What a big kid! Allen climbed trees at the park. It scared me to death. Of course, after Jerry let him get on the roof with a chainsaw, the trees seemed less of a danger.

Isn't this how they go?

Isn't this how they go? Benjamin loves to put Allen's shoes on his hands. It's so cute!

They've gotten so big

Marymae and I had the following conversation today while playing in the backyard:

Marymae-Oh my goodness. They've gotten so big!

me-What has gotten so big Marymae?

Marymae-My rocks that we got from the beach the other week.

me-Marymae, I don't think rocks can grow.

Marymae-Oh, well, they've gotten so much bigger.

Lunch with Jerry

The kids and I had lunch with Jerry this week and it was a beautiful day. So pretty, in fact, that you can't see the ocean and the boat behind the kids because it was too bright for my camera! We went to Joe's Crab Shack and sat outside down by the bay. It was breezy, cool and sunny--such a perfect day that I had to take a picture of the kids. I promise one with pumpkins soon--I'll get in the spirit. It has just been so HOT that it doesn't feel like fall.

Senior center fall festival...

The kids and I go to the Senior Citizen center at West Guth park every October for their small fall festival. It's not the greatest festival or anything, but my kids like it and it's never crowded. This year, one of the older men had this jeep there for the kids to see and climb in. They loved it. It had all its parts still in tact--machine gun, grenades, etc. (Surely, they were not "loaded") Anyway, it was the highlight of our visit.

Condo, condoo, coondoo, coondo whatever....

My parents have a condo timeshare like deal that they get a week a year at whatever participating condos. Well, they had it this past weekend near the island and we went out there Sunday. We swam at the pool and went for a boatride right at dusk. It was so pretty. Anyway, Marymae just couldn't get it right. She kept calling it everything but a condo. Finally, she settled on a condore, so that's what we call it--the condore.
Isn't Allen getting too big? He's going through a growth spurt right now, thinning out and getting taller. Puberty maybe? I don't know.
Benjamin was so silly. At first, he hated his lifejacket, then the boat started going and he was better about the whole thing. He crawled around on the boat (it's a pontoon boat, so there's lots of crawl space) while we were sightseeing.
Marymae posed for a dozen or so pictures. She's a ham. is Jerry. Marymae took this picture.
Marymae also took this picture of my daddy. He was driving the boat. My daddy is one of the greatest men I've ever known. Jerry is another one who is a great man--no pride intended there. He's just a good guy. That's probably why I married him because he is somewhat like my daddy and I've always been a daddy's girl.

Beach Babies

Yummy sand.
Allen begged to buried in the sand.

We went to the beach Saturday and couldn't have chosen a better day. It was so pretty. The water was clear and blue. There was very little seaweed or tar--no jellyfish, nothing. It was nice. Benjamin had never been so we loaded up and headed to the beach. The kids loved it! Benjamin crawled around in the water for hours and Marymae built sand castles. Jerry and Allen body surfed and I took too many pictures. It was great.

Wild Turkey 101

I have to sing the praises of Wild Turkey 101--seems it is a great gastrointestinal disinfectant. After Marymae had a bout of vomiting and diarrhea, Jerry, Allen and I swigged a little Wild Turkey to keep from the getting the barfs. I had heard through my sister that she knew of some folks that sung its' praises for years. Well, when you're barfophobic (like some people I know)and exposed to the barfs, Wild Turkey is your friend. Swig a few times a day for about three days and you won't get the bug--or at least not as severe a bug. Worked for us! If it burns your stomach as much as it burns your throat, it's sure to work.

Look who's walkin' (sllloooowwwly)

I know he's 17 months and beyond walking age, but I still don't want him to be so big, yet. He likes to take a few steps on his own and he is so proud of himself. It's pretty stinkin' cute especially because he says, "go, go, go".

Mrs. Mertle

A very sweet older lady at church loves for the kids to ride with her in her wheelchair. Marymae sits on Mrs. Mertle's lap and Benjamin sits on Marymae's. Usually, Allen pushes but Harley was with us this particular Sunday and wanted to do all the pushing herself. So, we took Mrs. Mertle around the gym a few times. My children love Mrs. Mertle and she loves my kids.
